Frequently Asked Questions

Here’s some of the common questions I get asked. Not on the list? No problem, just contact me and I’ll answer you.

Yes. Ideally I’d come in at the early stages of planning to help make sure you’re going in the right direction and don’t waste time and energy.

But if you’ve already got to the end stages, that’s okay too – I can help you make sure you get the best bang for your buck in terms of media coverage by helping you to direct your announcement/pitch/press release to the right places.

That’s fine. We can tailor the course length to suit your needs – you may only need a couple of hours to reacquaint yourself with the skills you already have.

Even journalists are human and they just want to tell a good story! So often there are amazing businesses and charities doing incredible things but no-one knows about it. If you really believe in what you’re doing, then chances are journalists and the public will too.

A story is only great if people hear it.

Absolutely. You may not be keen to have it known that you’ve employed the help of an external media trainer or consultant. There are lots of reasons for this and I’m more than happy to help by being discreet.

You may’ve been in PR or communications for years, or you may even have been a journalist at some point in your career, but either way, things have changed – a lot.

It helps to understand who the journalists and the audience are, what they like and what they don’t. Journalists are arguably busier than they ever have been before, so how do you cut through the noise and get your message across?

The courses are half-day (four hours). If, however, you need a bit more time, or your group is larger, then I can tailor your courses to suit.

Sure can. I can help you answer questions like; do you send your press release out to every newsroom or just select journalists? Do you send out an embargoed copy, or not? Which media do we target?

My ad-hoc press release analysis and consultancy service will make sure you get the best results and actually get attention from the media.

Nope. Correlate is a retainer-free zone. I’ve heard from multiple charities and small businesses that they can’t afford retainers and subscription PR models, so that’s where I differ. I’m here whenever you need me, but I won’t charge for when you don’t.
